Today it is difficult to find a balance between motivation, clearing heavy workloads, maintaining low stress-levels, flexibility and openness for new trainings and learnings.
The enormous and largely underestimated power of laughter and smiling is one of the best and quickest ways for employees to reach a healthier and correspondingly more productive state of mind.
Some business heads, managers and company owners fear that laughter in the office negatively influences the people working there and that a kind of office chaos could appear and that the work simply wouldn’t be done.
As a method, although unusual, laughter can really help and in actual fact laughter does the opposite of slowing things down; employees deal with their daily tasks more easily and quickly, simply because they are happier when going about their work. The work itself is more fun and the communication between colleagues and the team members is greatly improved.
The Lachyoga method that originates from India which doesn’t rely on a particular form of humour or wittiness to produce laughter (no jokes are told) and is for everybody, even for those who are thought to have no sense of humour at all!
At first the laughter is stimulated or simulated which is for most of us rather odd, to say the least, but after a few minutes much to the surprise of pretty much every participant, the acted laughter very quickly becomes real laughter and one is usually very surprised at how vigorous the exercises are and how quickly the body begins to show positive signs of sporty exertion.
This means the participants become physically quite powerfully stimulated and to quote Dr. Steven Fry (Stanford University, USA):“2 minutes laughter or one hundred laughs can be compared favourably to 10 minutes jogging or 10 minutes on a rowing machine“
It is through this „game“ with laughter and cheerfulness that the „external“ laughter muscles get trained – and by this I mean the body gets powerfully moved to feel and remember what it is like to really laugh again.
The mind often says at the beginning: „ hold on a minute, I don’t really want to laugh“, but sooner or later one or two little giggles appear which often lead to real loud belly laughs. Of course the group dynamic plays an important role as always
More and more companies, not only here in Germany, are discovering that laughter can hugely support colleagues and employees achieve better results at work
A recent study, which took place in Denmark at the Amnesty International call-centre in Copenhagen showed that laughter sessions really did increase the work moral on a measurable scale.
If you would like your employees or members of a particular team - something new and unusual, which blows like a fresh breeze through your company’s offices; bring team members together like nothing else can and will create a vastly improved working environment, I will be more than happy to speak to you and discuss the prospects of a laughter-motivational workshop at your company’s offices.
I would appreciate your emailing me your daytime number so that I can discuss with you personally the positive influence of laughter upon your employees and colleagues.
